As students we cannot wait for the arrival of a holiday or an event that will give us some much needed time off from working: be it Christmas, a birthday (weekend) or a quick drive back home to see the parents. Whatever the reason for your opportunity to stop, think and relax, there is sure to be some films that set your mind working at a phenomenal pace and If those films are Chick flicks well… you are in the right place.

So here are my : Top 10 nostalgic Chicks flicks!

Number Ten: Aqua Marine (2006)

Between the classic best friend dramas, obsession with that one hot guy that everyone has a crush on and the sudden appearance of a mermaid that suddenly washes up (randomly) during a storm, what isn’t there to love about this Australian-American teen Chick flick comedy?!

Sara Paxton, Emma Roberts, and Joanna “JoJo” Levesque make this film what it is. Fantastic!

Number Nine: Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging (2008)

A great summer classic from 08′ , Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging took  the storyline of most teenage girls and some boys, mixed it up in a bowl of creative camera angles/odd scenarios and jammed packed it into 100 minutes of truth, laughter and some embarrassment!

Let’s be honest, Georgia’s knickers were definitely to big!

Number Eight: A Cinderella Story (2004)

Hilary Duff and Chad Micheal Murray take 8th place with this modern spin on an old classic.

This story doesn’t follow the life of Cinderella but Sam Montgomery, looking for her prince while dealing with: High school, catty girls and a very wicked and botoxed excuse of a stepmother.

Well at least she has Chad!

Number Seven: She’s the Man (2006)

Amanda Bynes takes on the hilarious persona of Viola/Sebastian as she becomes one of the boys in this footie Chick flick.

With stars like Channing Tatum, Robert Hoffman and Vinnie Jones there is enough eye candy to go around.

Maybe not Vinnie Jones…

Number Six: Bride Wars (2009)

Would you be angry if your best friend refused to move hers or his wedding date, especially if it was on the same day as yours?

Yes? – Then this film shows you what can happen when that very situation occurs.

No?- Well… who says a double wedding can not work?!

Kate Hudson (Liv) and Anne Hathway (Emma) go head to head in a battle of weddings, friendships and happiness.

Who will win?

Number Five: Bring it On: All or Nothing (2006)

“Two, Four, Six, Eight – Who do we appreciate”

Back flips, High pyramids and Extension preps are all seen in this film and with stars such as Hayden Panettiere and Solange Knowles, this very Chick flick is certain to bring energy, fun and exciting to your screens at home.

Number Four: Bridesmaids (2011)

THE BFCA Criticics’ Choice Award (2012), 2 MTV Movie Awards (2012) and a People’s Choice Award?

This film simply speaks for itself.

Number Three: The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

The Devil does indeed wear Prada when in the form of Meryl Streep.

Adapted into a film by director David Frankel following the successful novel by Lauren Weisberger (of the same title), Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway) not only takes on the demands of a devilish boss but also the everyday struggles of living in the city and making her relationship work.

Number Two: Mean Girls (2004)

“Get in loser. We’re going shopping.”

“That’s why her hair is so big. It’s full of secrets.”

“I’m a mouse, duh.”

“On Wednesdays we wear pink.”

“Made out with a hot dog? Oh my God that was one time!”

You get the point, between the constant bitchy attitudes, sarcasm, people being two faced, arguments, cat fights, being hit by a bus, top cutting, bra showing… The people in Mean Girls do not… seem… that… bad.

Well, it’s something to think about. It made 2nd place, it has got to be a keeper!

Number One: Clueless (1995)

An all time classic said to be the original Chick flick.

With stars like Alicia Silverstone and  the late Brittany Murphy, this Chick flick set the standard for all those you see listed above!

Such a classic Iggy Azalea took inspiration for her music video ‘Fancy’, but ‘You already know’.

(See what I did there!).
