Is it crazy to say that our world is ordinairy? That there are probably trillions of planets across the universe with similar qualities, they just haven’t been found yet? I don’t think our world is ordinairy, in fact I think our world is very special. Sure, there may be other planets out there; with clouds, seas and oceans, a sun-rise and sun-set, however I believe it is the species on our planet that make it very special indeed.

Our world has many natural, simply beautiful qualities. Seeing the sun rise or set each day, whether it be behind a mountain, an ocean, a house. Seeing the tropical beaches with their deep blue seas shimmering in the radiant sunlight. Seeing the stars shining above you each night, knowing they are so far, far away yet still keep on shining. These are the natural beautys of which we are all lucky enough to witness, diversely there’s a great deal more out there. Creations added by human beings across many generations,  of which are simply wonderful, not only adding to our planet, but also changing it. These man made creations are something that evolves our world from what could be described as ‘ordinairy’ to something unique and simply outstanding.

To be able to witness these many creations, scattered across the world created by man kind would be difficult, therefore I created a bucket list, something to guide me on my journey of seeing the world and its many wonders. 100 things to do before I die, and so i thought it would be ideal to share five breathtaking creations with everybody, to show them some of the wonders of the world.

The Great Wall Of China- By far the most famous wall in the world. The Great Wall Of China took over one thousand years to build and sits an incredible 1500 miles in length. It is the longest, oldest, most time consuming construction project ever attempted in history. Incredibally, Neil Armstrong (the first man on the moon) stated that this wall could even be seen from space!

The Taj Mahal- The Taj Mahal took 22 years to build from 1631 until 1653 and was designed by Shah Jahan, however it took around 20,000 workers to complete the masterpiece. The building was built in memory of Shah Jahan’s third wife and is located in Agra, India. This very famous building attracts around 4 million tourists per year.

The Great Pyramid of Giza- The Great Pyramid of Giza was built by the fourth dynasty pharaoh Khufu over a  period of about 20 years as his tomb around 2550 B.C. The pyramid is estimated to have about 2,300,000 stone blocks weighing from 2-30 Tons each with some weighing as much as 70 tons. The Great Pyramid of Giza is one the most remarkable buildings in existence, in fact it was built with such precision that our current technology cannot replicate it. The Great Pyramid of Giza, situated in Egypt attracts millions of tourists per year.

Loy Krathong- The Loy Krathong is not a man built object, however i still believe it is man made due to the many human beings who celebrate it and get involved each year. The Loy Krathong is in fact a festival celebrated in Thailand, it takes place on the evening of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai Lunar callender, which tends to fall in November. The world Loy means to float, and a Krathong is a small basket, which usually holds a candle. The whole idea of the Loy Krathong festival is that your bad luck is able to float away and be replaced with a fresh start. The festival is often recognised by its showcase of lit objects.

The Colosseum- The colosseum is a recognised and beautiful building situated in Italy. Emperor Vespasian, founder of the Flavian Dynasty (original name for the Colesseum) started the construction of the Colosseum in AD 72, finally completing it in AD 80, the year after Vespasian’s death.Despite now being in ruins, the monumental structure is still an imposing and beautiful sight, probably being the most incredible building in the Roman Empitre, once again attracting millions each year.

So there it is, proof that our world is anything but ordinairy. It beholds adventure, beauty and most importantly evidence that human beings are a very special species. Who knows, maby i won’t get to see all of these amazing sites, however it is clear that along with the unbelievable natural qualities our world beholds, this planet has many man made wonders…

Wonders of the world.
