Christmas is fast approaching. A wonderful time for gaming. Extra free time to play to your heart’s content.

In the last few months there have been many new releases to liven up the living room. But it can be hard to choose from the many interesting choices on offer. Here are just some of the releases that will be available around Christmas to consider sticking on your list to pester Santa Claus with.

Grand Theft Auto V (PS4 and Xbox One Edition)

Return to Los Santos and Blaine County in Rockstar’s remaster. With some all new missions, vehicles and of course, visual upgrades. There’s even a new first-person experience so you can see the streets from the eyes of Trevor, Michael and Franklin. Heists will also be making an appearance in GTA Online very soon.

Far Cry 4

The explosive playground of Kyrat boasts beautiful scenery, dangerous wildlife, and of course baddies to shoot down. Troy Baker recognisable as Joel from The Last Of Us, Booker from Bioshock: Infinite and many other acting parts takes the role of Pagan Min. Far Cry 4’s answer to Vaas from it’s predecessor.

Driveclub

Evolution’s Driveclub may have gotten off to a poor start with it’s online problems and delayed PS+ Edition. But it’s still a excellent new exclusive to showcase the PS4’s graphical grunt. A grand list of super-cars that will make Jeremy Clarkson blush.

The Evil Within

Creator of the original Resident Evil, Shinji Mikami returns to direct a brand new horror game just as nasty. If you like the thought of constantly worrying about ammo reserves and running away from all things ungodly, then this is definitely the game for you.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity

Unity might have received a lot of grief recently for it’s performance issues but underneath it, it’s still a brilliant game with a brilliant setting and it ultimately shouldn’t stop you from enjoying it.  Set during the French Revolution featuring Arno, our new character and an all new assassin story.

Sunset Overdrive

The vibrant candy-colour world of Sunset City has been hit by a wave of humans turned into terrifying mutants by drinking Fizzco’s new energy drink. The typical zaniness expected from Insomniac Games, with fantastical weapon designs similar to it’s other proud IP, Ratchet and Clank. The ultimate hipster video game.

Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare

An obvious choice. The Call Of Duty series has become a behemoth in the console space. Featuring Kevin Spacey as the president of the ATLAS corporation. A giant, all-powerful private military company . And oh look, it’s Troy Baker again in the thumbnail. That bloke gets everywhere! The multiplayer is back and is still some of the most fun and engaging in the industry and manages to mix it up a bit with the new jetpack element.
