laurareillyy94Making her Broadway debut as the role of Charlotte in ‘13’ at the tender age of fifteen, there was clear evidence that miss Ariana Grande was destined for stardom. Shortly after her debut she made the tough transition from stage to TV, where she starred in popular shows of the channel Nickelodeon. Playing a much loved character named ‘Cat’, Ariana built herself a fan base who go by the name of ‘Arianators’, who supported her throughout the shows and when she released her first single ‘The Way’ featuring Mac Millar in 2013, children’s TV seemed like a distant memory and this was only a taste of the fame that was to come her way.
Born in June 26, 1993, the twenty one year old is described as a vocal powerhouse with a cute edge. Standing at the height of 5ft 1 and half inches, it’s to wonder how such big vocals can come from such a petite girl. Her debut album ‘Yours Truly’ released last year and managed to hit top ten on the billboard charts putting Grande right on the radar and in the run to be the next big thing. The record very much has a classic, almost 50s vibe, suiting her soulful voice which has been compared to mega stars Mariah Carey and Celine Dion.
As if being pop’s new it girl isn’t enough, Ariana has also developed a status of being a fashion icon. Personally I am a huge fan of her style; with a signature up do hairstyle, cute skater skirts, girly bralet tops and a killer pair of shoes to finish her look off, the girl always looks effortless. She’s a huge fan of high street stores Forever 21 and Topshop; so stealing her style is so easy and affordable… even for a student!
With 2013 being a year of success, there’s only more to come in 2014. Having over 17 million followers on twitter, Ariana is about to drop her second album ‘My Everything’ and has already landed herself major collaborations with some of music’s biggest stars. Hitting number one with song ‘Problem’ featuring Iggy Azalea, she has then went on to release new single ‘Break Free’ featuring well known DJ, Zed. This song has pushed away from her vintage style and is a lot more techno, which she recently said she would like to do a lot more of as it makes her happy. She has also managed to feature on the track ‘Bang Bang’ with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj, which is set to be a huge hit here in the UK.
