With only 6 days to go until the big day, what can you expect from our favourite fantasy show? If you don’t know, season 5 is supposed to lead away from the books; people who are supposed to die will not, people who aren’t supposed to die will and none of us will be able to predict the outcome of the season. Promising to hold better story lines, bloodier battles and lots more shocking plot twists, this season is already lining up to be a good one. And beware, if you haven’t caught up yet, this article may contain spoilers.

Arya Stark was last seen leaving for Braavos using a coin she was given by the Faceless Man. Actress Maisie Williams claims that season 5 will be ‘the end’ of Arya Stark, in which she says in an interview with the Guardian “We’re coming to the end now, so I don’t know what they’re going to do next year. It’s the end of Arya, as far as anyone knows,” Is season 5 the end of the Stark family’s most dangerous female?

Who else is set to bite the dust this April?  Many have predicted the demise of a lot of background characters such as Loras Tyrell, Myrcella Baratheon, Mance Rayder and Bronn. An April fool’s joke article also claimed that Tyrion was the next to die, and a number of fans were taken in by the story, and they immediately took to twitter and Facebook vowing to send George R.R Martin ‘their regards’ if he were to let Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) die. But what’s actually in store for Tyrion? Rumours have said that he will join forces with the show’s other badass, Daeneryes Targaryen, (who was last seen locking her two dragons away as the third, most dangerous one went on a rampage killing livestock and children) and these rumours certainly seem true as Peter Dinklage and Emilia Clarke have been sighted on the same set.

And what in Westeros? King Joffrey is dead, and his brother, Tommen, is to take over and even marry Joffery’s widow. Weddings in Game of Thrones never go smoothly, so is this wedding set to see another King or Stark killed off? Tywin Lannister was also killed off last season by Tyrion, so who will own Casterly Rock now? Will Jamie grant his father’s wish and leave Cersei and Tommen to become the new Lord of Casterly Rock? Remember that Jamie is in an incestuous relationship with his sister, Cersei.

Sansa escaped King’s Landing but she walked straight into Littlefinger’s clutches to undoubtly be used as a pawn in whatever scheme he’s cooked up now. In the trailer we see him telling Sansa, “There is no justice in the world, not unless we make it. Avenge them.” Littlefinger, the puppet-master that he is, orchestrated Joffrey’s death with Olenna Tyrell and is sure to be a major character in season five. Is he just using Sansa as a ticket to Winterfell? Winterfell it’s self is still being taken over by the Bolton’s. Poor Theon.

Dorne is set to become a major part in season 5 with Oberyn Martell’s daughter’s set to make their appearance on the show, looking for revenge for their father who was killed in a battle to the death for Tyrion’s innocence. Myrcella Baratheon, Cersei and Jamie’s daughter, who was sent to marry a Dornish prince back in season 2 is also rumoured to return.  If Tommen is murdered in season 5, will the throne pass to her?

Season 5 does seem action packed and just as exciting as the last, and every season before that. Personally I’m very excited that they’re straying from the books a little, I can’t wait to see what the writers throw at us.

Game of Thrones is set to return on April 12th 2015.
